Table Tennis Vinyl Sports Flooring

This means that the best table tennis flooring should have the ability to absorb impact and stroke vibration, and provide consistent bounce for all players.

A good floor will also keep players alert and prevent them from slipping and falling during play.

There are many different types of table tennis flooring to choose from. Therefore, it is best to check out all the options and make a decision based on your needs and budget.

The best table tennis flooring should be durable, easy to clean, waterproof and safe for players. The most common types of table tennis flooring are hardwood, concrete, plywood and rubber, while the most popular is vinyl.

What are the ITTF approved flooring options?

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) has published detailed standards for table tennis flooring specifications. The standards are as follows

The table surface must not have any individual fixings such as nails, screws, bolts or other items protruding more than 0.1mm above the table surface. When the ball rolls on the playing surface, it should bounce between 23cm and 33cm when falling from a height of 30cm. There should be no double bounce when falling from a height of 30cm. The floor may reflect light to some extent, but there should be no glare or glare that affects the player's vision. As the ball rolls across the playing surface, it should travel at a consistent speed and bounce consistently.

The standard for table tennis sports flooring is FIBA Standard (ST) 2-1C-2B, which states that the playing surface of a table tennis table should be dark in color, with matte finishes including dark green, dark blue or black. Although according to article 4.1.2 of the same manual: "The playing surface may be any color", you can choose from a range of colors available on the market. However, it is best to remember that bright colors such as red or blue can create a color contrast with the white ball, distracting players during the match and affecting their performance level.

According to Article 4.1.3 of the FIBA Handbook, "The surface should be non-slip when dry." This means it will not be slippery when the player crosses it.

If you have a hard floor, such as wood or concrete, this may cause problems for players as they play, as it is more likely to make them slip and fall.

However, the only acceptable flooring for competitive play is the IPL vinyl flooring used for table tennis floors. This way, if you play on one type of court, you can be sure that you will perform similarly on another court that uses the same flooring.
